Photoshop

As part of the multimedia project, 3 versions of a high resolution, raw digital photograph were created using Adobe Photoshop CS4 image editing software.

For Web
The first version of the image was optimized for use on a web page. The resolution was reduced to 72dpi, the image was cropped and the overall image size was reduced to bring it down to 600 pixels wide. Finally the image was saved at a lower quality to create a JPEG file of less than 125kb, optimizing it for use on a fast-loading web page.

Indesign
The second version of the image was optimized for use in print, specifically in a brochure similar to the InDesign portion of the multimedia project. The image was cropped and resized in the same way as the web version. The image was again saved at a lower image quality, but not as low as the web version, creating a JPEG file of less than 300kb.

Filter
Finally a filter was applied to the 125kb web version of the image, creating a graphically appealing stylized version of the image suitable for certain web applications.
